Algeria's ANPP appoints Dr Lina Farhat to African Medicines Agency technical committee

The Agence Nationale des Produits Pharmaceutiques (ANPP) has appointed Dr Lina Farhat as expert and deputy chair of the technical committee for medical devices and in vitro diagnostics at the African Medicines Agency (AMA).

Dr Farhat serves as deputy director for the evaluation of the effectiveness of medical devices and in vitro diagnostics at the ANPP. The appointment was announced during the inaugural AMA Week, held in Kigali, Rwanda from 25 to 30 October 2026.

The ANPP stated that the appointment recognises the scientific and regulatory expertise of the Algerian authority and its contribution to harmonising regulatory frameworks for pharmaceutical oversight across Africa. The authority said this strengthens Algeria’s representation in continental technical bodies.

The AMA Week ran under the theme “Building the future of regulation in Africa together: from national strength to continental impact.”
