Cape Verde's ERIS marks ten years of cosmetics regulation

The Entidade Reguladora Independente da Saúde (ERIS) has marked ten years since Cabo Verde established its first legal framework for cosmetic products.

Decree-Law n.º 21/2016, published on 31 March 2016 and effective from September 2016, created the foundation for regulating the sector and defined clear rules and responsibilities for all participants in the supply chain, with the aim of ensuring product quality and safety.

ERIS stated that regulation and supervision of the national market have been gradually strengthened over the decade, allowing risks to public health to be prevented.

The authority, which is responsible for the technical and economic regulation of health care establishments and the pharmaceutical and food sectors under its statutes, reaffirmed its commitment to the regulatory pathway.
