BoMRA warns of BRIMS disruption during emergency system upgrade

The Botswana Medicines Regulatory Authority (BoMRA) is undertaking an emergency upgrade of the Botswana Regulatory Information Management System (BRIMS).

The upgrade, scheduled from 26 to 30 October 2026, will update PHP versions on affected systems. Maintenance activities are planned outside normal working hours to minimise disruption to business operations.

During this period, users may experience intermittent service disruptions or temporary unavailability of affected systems. Stakeholders should plan activities accordingly and submit applications, documents and other transactions well in advance to minimise potential inconvenience.

The upgrade forms part of ongoing efforts to maintain system security, stability and reliability. BoMRA did not state which specific BRIMS functions will be affected, the exact hours of maintenance each day, whether any services will remain fully operational, or what contingency arrangements apply for urgent regulatory submissions during the downtime.

The authority’s ICT Unit can be reached for technical assistance at helpdesk@bomra.co.bw or (+267) 362 0933.
