Egypt issues six fraud notices covering Ibrance, Cialis and four other products

Egypt’s Drug Authority (EDA) has published six commercial fraud circulars covering packs of unknown source and unregistered products, including capsules bearing the details of Pfizer’s Ibrance.

Pharmacies, distributors and wholesalers should check stock against the details below. In three cases the circular identifies specific batch numbers of a product. In the other three the circular covers all batches, because the product as described is not registered with the EDA.

For Lipotropic Magnum, the central administration for registration of cosmetic preparations reported that the product with the stated details is not registered in the EDA database and is not authorised for circulation.

In each of the six circulars the EDA ordered the seizure and quarantine of packs not conforming to specifications, directed anyone in doubt about a product to the authority’s 15301 hotline or its website, and provided a link to images of the affected packs. Each circular states that it applies only to the batches it names and not to circulation of the product generally.
