The Entidade Reguladora Independente da Saúde (ERIS) has approved regulations establishing mandatory public registration for health care establishments under its jurisdiction.
The regulation, passed through Deliberation No. 26/2026 of 18 August and published in the Official Bulletin, II Series, No. 179 of 18 September 2026, sets out rules for registration, updates, alterations, suspension, cessation and cancellation of registrations for Estabelecimentos Prestadores de Cuidados de Saúde (EPCS).
The registry aims to publicise and declare the legal status of health care establishments, supporting ERIS’s functions in licensing, supervision and disciplinary oversight of the sector.
The approval follows a public regulatory consultation during which interested parties had 20 days to submit comments.
ERIS stated that the instrument strengthens conditions for more complete and up-to-date knowledge of establishments under its regulatory jurisdiction, contributing to more effective regulation and supervision of the sector and greater transparency and security of information available to users.
Deliberation No. 26/2026 entered into force the day after its publication in the Official Bulletin.
