Kenya and Zambia explore stronger pharmaceutical regulatory cooperation

The Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) and Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority (ZAMRA) are exploring stronger regulatory cooperation to advance oversight of health products and support local pharmaceutical manufacturing.

PPB Chairman Dr John Munyu met ZAMRA Director-General Mr Makomani Siyanga on 29 September 2026 on the sidelines of the PharmaReg AfriSummit 2026 to discuss areas of collaboration between the two agencies. Dr Munyu called for the formalisation of a memorandum of understanding to strengthen capacity building for assessors, inspectors and scientists. PPB Chief Executive Officer Dr Ahmed Mohamed and members of the Board’s senior management were present.
