Burkina Faso suspends Cyclone range over undeclared sildenafil

The Agence nationale de régulation pharmaceutique (ANRP) has suspended manufacturing and sale of products in the Cyclone range after finding undeclared sildenafil.

The health alert, issued on 7 November 2026, follows the detection of sildenafil—a prescription-only phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitor used to treat erectile dysfunction—in products marketed under the Cyclone brand.

The Faso FDA has ordered an immediate halt to consumption, manufacturing, and sale of all Cyclone products across the country, regardless of the batch or place of purchase.

Sildenafil can cause serious adverse effects including hypotension, visual disturbances, and dangerous interactions with nitrates commonly prescribed for cardiovascular conditions. Its presence in unregistered or inadequately labelled products poses particular risks to consumers unaware of the active ingredient.
